Manage Member Roles

This topic describes how to add, update, and delete roles of Swagger Studio users. For an overview of roles, click here.

Overview of managing user roles

To view and manage the members of your Swagger Studio organization, do the following:

  1. Click Organization Settings on the sidebar.

  2. Select the Permissions tab.

A list of members is displayed.

For each member, you can view the following details:

  • Name

  • Email

  • Role assignments - This count shows how many roles have been assigned to this member for different types of organization's resources, including individual APIs, teams, projects, domains, Portal products or the whole organization.

  • Organization role - Displays each member's role in the organization or no role assignment.

  • Last active - Displays the date and type of each member's most recent activity, either in Swagger Studio or Swagger Portal.

  • Actions - Click the icon in this column to navigate to an individual member's profile, where you can manage their resource access and role assignments.

Assign a new user role

To assign a role in a specific resource to an organization member, do the following:

  1. Click the member-profile.png member profile icon next to that user in the Permissions tab.

  2. Click Create Role Assignment.

  3. Select the type of resource from the Resource list.

  4. Select the specific resource from the Name list.

  5. Specify the member's role in the selected resource by selecting an option from the Role list.

  6. Click Create.

Modify or delete user roles

To modify a member's role in a specific resource, do the following:

  1. Click the member-profile.png member profile icon next to that user in the Permissions tab.

  2. Click the edit-role.png edit icon at the relevant resource.

  3. Specify the member's role in the selected resource by selecting an option from the Role list.

  4. Confirm your update by clicking the checkmark icon.

The user role is updated.

To delete a member's role in a specific resource, do the following:

  1. Click the member-profile.png member profile icon next to that user in the Permissions tab.

  2. Click the Studio_icon_spectral_editor_trash_01.png delete icon at the relevant resource.

  3. In the subsequent dialog, confirm your update by clicking Remove access.

The member's role in the relevant resource is deleted.
